Goalsly helps your child grow in confidence, effort and skill, one match at a time. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.
Before kick-off, choose a challenge card together. You can work through them in order from Week 1, or pick whichever one feels right for that matchday. There’s no wrong choice.
Every card has three simple goals to try during the game: one for Skill, one for Mindset, and one for Effort. Read them together so your child knows what to focus on.
That’s it. Just play! Your child tries the challenges naturally during the match. No pressure, no counting, no clipboard. Just something to think about and aim for.
After the final whistle, go through the card together. Did they give it a go? Tick it off. It doesn’t matter if they didn’t complete every challenge. The real win is having a go.
If they gave it their all, reward them with their Certified Goalsly sticker. Stick it on the card and add their name and date: a little memento of a great matchday.
Each card covers the three things that make a great grassroots footballer: not just ability on the ball, but how they think and how hard they try.
Something to try with the ball: a pass, a run, a shot, or a dribble. Age-appropriate and achievable, so every player can have a go.
How to stay positive, brave, and focused, even when things go wrong. Building mental resilience is just as important as technique at this age.
Giving their best, win or lose. Pressing, tracking back, supporting teammates. These are the things every coach wants to see, regardless of the scoreline.
Goalsly fits around real grassroots life: holidays, illness, bench time and all. There’s no “behind”, just progress.
Work through Week 1 to 30 like a season. Challenges build gradually, so your child grows week by week from first kick-off to the season finale.
Some kids like freedom, so let them choose the card that matches their mood, position, or what they want to work on that week. Both approaches work.
Life happens. Kids get poorly, go on holiday, or miss games. Just pick up where you left off or grab any card when you’re back. No pressure.
Grassroots kids typically play two short games. One card covers both, bench time included. No need to reset or pick a new card at half-time.
Goalsly is built on the idea that kids this age learn best through play, movement, and real-world connection, not digital distractions. At 6–10 years old, children don’t need another reason to reach for a phone.
Our cards are printed, hands-on and screen-free, giving families a chance to focus on football, effort and fun without relying on tech.
“As a parent, I believe kids this age don’t need a phone, and using mine pitch-side just didn’t feel right. I wanted something real, something we could do together, that would build confidence without adding more screen time. That’s how Goalsly was born.”
Founder, GoalslyWhat if my child doesn’t complete all the goals?
That’s okay, we go again next matchday. Some games your child might complete all three challenges, sometimes just one, sometimes none at all. The point is to build confidence, not pressure. Every effort counts. The real win is having a go.
Do we have to follow the cards in order?
Nope! You can follow them in order like a season, or pick whichever card feels right that week. Some kids like structure, others like freedom. It’s up to you.
What if we miss a week?
No problem, just pick up where you left off or choose any challenge card when you’re back. Goalsly is flexible. There’s no “behind”, just progress.
What age is Goalsly for?
Goalsly is designed for grassroots footballers aged 6 to 10, typically in U7–U10 teams. A goalkeeper-specific version and a U11+ expansion are also in development.
Is this for parents or coaches?
Goalsly is designed for parents and kids to use together, but coaches love it too. It gives matchday purpose without adding pressure, and reinforces the messages many grassroots coaches are already teaching.
What if my child can’t read yet?
That’s okay, you can read the card together. Many parents tell us this helps build confidence with reading and writing too, especially when kids are excited to earn their sticker.
Most important of all: be brave, give it your all, and celebrate every good thing you do. 👊
